1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Sound Atlas you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
Sound Atlas is a community-driven archive of field recordings. We provide the platform; contributors provide the content. We reserve the right to remove or refuse any content at our sole discretion.
3. Contributor responsibilities
By uploading a recording you represent and warrant that:
- You recorded the audio yourself or have all necessary rights to share it.
- The recording was made lawfully and does not violate any applicable law.
- The recording does not contain copyrighted music, private conversations captured without consent, or material that could violate the privacy of identifiable individuals.
- The location and timestamp metadata you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
4. Content license
You retain ownership of your recordings. By uploading, you grant Sound Atlas a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, stream, display metadata for, and archive your recording as part of the service.
5. Moderation
All uploads are reviewed before publication. We may reject, remove, or unpublish recordings at any time for any reason, including but not limited to copyright concerns, privacy issues, quality, or inaccurate metadata.
6. Prohibited content
You must not upload recordings that contain:
- Copyrighted music or broadcast material
- Targeted harassment or hate speech
- Private conversations without consent
- Content that endangers or identifies private individuals
- Illegal content under any applicable jurisdiction
7. Disclaimer
The service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee availability, accuracy, or permanence of any content.
8. Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
